Kennel Cough from Summer Camp :(

While we were in Disney for the week sweating in the humidity, eating Mickey popcorn, watching fireworks, getting pushed around in lines, taking pictures with Donald Duck ....

DJ and his cousins Beau and Catie were in 'summer camp' at the Best Friends pet resort, which is right on Disney property. And let me tell you, I cried when we left DJ there. If you know me personally, then you know that DJ is my extra appendage - he goes wherever I go! He is my little buddy and we are very close.

So leaving him at the kennel that first night broke my heart! Is he going to miss me? Will he feel lonley? I hope the staff talk to him enough?! IS HE GOING TO THINK I ABANDONED HIM?! Full-on dog mom guilt. I went back to visit as soon as possible (which if you ask Jason, it was proably at the crack of dawn!) And to my surprise, all the staff we spoke to told us how well behaved, friendly, and happy my baby DJ was ...... Um excuse me, what???? He wasn't crying for me all night? He didn't try a great escape to go find his very own mother?????

Nope, DJ was beyond thrilled! In fact, he was in his own personal heaven and I'm pretty sure he enjoyed Disney MORE than the rest of us! He played with his new dog friends and counselor friends all day, everyday, and I actually felt happy leaving him there! Well, happy for him, still sad for me :(

The only setback - my poor boy came home with Kennel Cough, and a pretty bad strain of it, at that. He is taking two different meds and feeling lethargic, but his fever has thankfully gone down. And he is still the most handsome model ever! But that cough, boy is it harsh.
